Chapter 1: Transport Industry and its internal
I begin this chapter, detailing the industry. First you have to load it has to be carried by someone somewhere. Whether it's a load of onions or a small magazines, everything has to go somewhere. Freight transport is not only defined as goods that are delivered in a semi. It also involves air freight, container freight, rail, and more. Freight is manufactured in the USA or abroad. Then be shipped to the U.S. (or already here) and should be delivered. In ports or loading dock of a factory, is charged to a piece of equipment. Again, this could be a point, the railroad car or ship. It's all about freight through 2 or more parties. When this load of goods manufactured is assigned to a particular customer. This might be a clothing line, line to a retailer or a load of refrigerated foods went to a storage tank cold. Either way, there's always a charger, and a receiver or consignee. Now, sometimes, freight will go through a third party, if a forwarding or freight agent.
A freight broker will act as half the man that will handle the booking of the trucking company or another mode of transport for the shipper. The agent will approach a shipper seeking to help manage their load. This removes some of the workload off of the manufacturer, the department of shipments. The shipper and the broker will negotiate a fee for each load, and the broker, in turn hires a trucking company at a lower rate to deliver the shipment.
A bulking agent is a similar agent, but is more concerned with international shipments. To be responsible for transport of goods, such as the chartering of container ships, Ships going abroad, and tastes. An example of this would be a yacht broker the sale of a vessel to someone overseas. The yacht broker will contact a to quote a freight rate to send the ship abroad.
There are also 3PL companies. They handle all aspects of transport. That will take care of everything an agent and freight forwarder will be, and more. Storage, intermodal, rail, container, cold storage and air cargo are all the ways a 3PL is responsible. That companies are usually very large with many divisions.
In some circumstances, a broker and freight forwarder to work together. An agent can handle a burden that we must go abroad and seek the services of a freight forwarder. Now, the same can not be said a broker to work with a broker. That is called double brokering. Is frowned upon in the industry, but it still happens. Double brokering can cause serious problems of accountability that are not required to shoulder responsibility and an agent.
The carriers can not make friends with a runner for the simple reason that feel an agent takes money from his pocket. In a sense, they do. Although most companies like road runners, who need them. Brokers manage such a large share of the burden that is necessary for a runner to be used on occasion. Trucking companies have dispatchers and load planners are responsible for booking cargo for trucks. Generally, an appeal to their own customers first, and use of goods traded as a last resort. From my experience, companies that transport truck Load too negotiated already in or will be in financial trouble. A trucking company must have a strong book of his own company. I think that companies smaller trucks tend to ignore the sales side and based on the runners. This speed may mean trouble. If I could recommend something to any trucking company would hire a good salesman!
For runners, you have your own large companies such a large portion of the load that can be done offer low rates for most goods. And since we have such a large share of the market, they can accept lower rates of customers and in turn be sure you can sell a trucking company. The trucking companies have to take the cheap freight on occasion because of concern brokerage both goods. These brokerage firms are generally not liked in the industry. They are considered to defraud trucking companies because of its position in the market and its market share. When negotiated, I decided to make less a burden and make a successful trucking company. This would lead to better relations corridor transport. You will be surprised how often you need to help you out of trouble as an intermediary.
There are also large trucking companies operating in Just as large brokers. These large trucking companies can underbed smaller brokers and small trucking companies. Can do this because of the amount that may corner market. They usually get a good price from the close of its terminal customers at home and can afford to have less in their rates return. This creates low market rates that small businesses can not afford to accept. The other factors are that these big companies have paid and lower computer operating cost.
Chapter 2: The Life Cycle of a burden
A charge is defined as the product of a shipper needs to move to one recipient. The charger is also known as a client (your customer). The recipient is the person who receives the cargo. Once you have obtained the business from a client, it will begin offering certain charges. If you will accept these burdens, in turn, sold the cargo to a carrier at a lower rate than quoted the customer. Sounds confusing? Just wait. Once you agree to cover the load for this customer, it starts searching for a truck that wants to load. Then negotiate a fee with that truck. Once have agreed terms, provided that the carrier above. They will send your package creation. In general, contains his MC # (authority), insurance, W9, and references. At the same time be sent to your installation package (usually containing the same information.) Then and only then were sent by fax new running back signed / carrier contract (this is a contract that has not come to ask your customer for freight), which go further. Never give out any detailed information on who your client until they have signed the contract. Once you have done this, then fax a confirmation rate (explained below). It was signed and faxed. Now you have to cover the load.
A load is started as a product that is manufactured in a factory or plant. It is then designated for delivery to a buyer of goods. The load is then either coordinated for shipment in the shipping department or managed by a third. The burden is sold to a company's product the shipping department or a third party / broker. The carrier is responsible for delivering cargo to a recipient. The recipient can be a buyer, store, another factory for further processing, or in a tank.
The load can also be handled in other words, such as a load of vehicles to be transferred to another dealer or a load that was delivered before a store. There are many origins and destiny of the combinations that can be had in this business. The products we use every day are put through this cycle for us to get them. Think of all the important points at home. They are there because of this sector and this cycle.
3. The role of a Freight Broker
A freight broker is an individual from third parties responsible to match the load with a company of the shipper for the recipient. The reason brokers are in business is the fact that manufacturers can take an enormous amount of work outside the shipping department to allow an agent to manage shipments. The broker is responsible for a rate quote for the shipper of the cargo, the search for a carrier, a type of negotiation with the company, and secure the load is delivered correctly. While doing this, they are trying to make a decent profit between the rate they are getting from their customers and the rate paid to the carrier.
As an agent you are responsible for creating new customers, carriers, management of foreign exchange receipts and faxing all this in your mediation. You must stay in constant contact with your brokerage, customers, and a driver that is in one of his charges. Want to stay in the controller to ensure that they are in time on the road, and after loading all the necessary information. Also given attention at all times in case of there is a problem with the load. You are responsible for the load. The customer trusts you as a business partner to handle large amounts of money on that burden.
The corridor, as an independent agent, the answers to your mediation. They must operate in a manner that reflects the ethos of the company they work for. Brokers are and 1099 general contractors are responsible for their own taxes. The brokerage will usually pay your commissions weekly and detailed addition to reporting the Commission.
There is now clerk posts' corridor. These agents are typically handed a book of business to meet daily basis and are paid wages. These positions are generally uncommon, and not easy. The true entrepreneurs decide to become independent agents. And I've seen runners employees to realize the potential income I could do as an independent agent just to go on their own.
If you are an agent, the brokerage also has responsibilities. It must handle all Back office work. This would include billing, collections, payroll and other normal office duties. They must provide the software for agents, a division of the Commission, and often provide cargo aboard subscriptions. They are also responsible for credit approvals for customers and carriers. They are responsible for paying the companies also.
4. The role of a dispatcher
A dispatcher is usually an employee of a trucking company. They are responsible management of the business drivers. It plans and coordinates the charges for drivers who handled the drivers' hours, make sure they are following the DOT guidelines, and many other essential tasks. The dispatcher is usually the person who will contact you when you have an available load. They will be looking for loads that match the needs of drivers of road, and in contact with the broker on the charge. Usually, it will be very blunt and to the point. Usually, are not rude people are very busy and has a hectic job. Being a distributor, in my opinion, is the equivalent to the voltage of an air traffic controller. Most of dispatchers to use a software program that will coordinate their trucks, loads, and customer information. Most companies now use a program to check the driver's location, speed, arrivals and departures. This software has been reduced considerably from one dispatchers workload.
5. The 3PL Industry and Storage
A 3PL company is a jack of all trades usually have divisions in the brokerage, warehousing and shipping of goods. To be responsible for air, sea and land cargo. A 3PL services also offer storage, tracking, labeling and inventory management. Are all all logistics provider.
A company would benefit from a 3PL in a situation where someone wanted to store their produce, manage her inventory, and manage orders when a buyer wanted a piece of that product. A 3PL can offer a great service to reduce workload and manpower required in a society that produces commodities.
It is not out of the question of a 3PL and a corridor to work together to manage the movements inside and outside their premises storage. This, in most cases, mediation is not considered double.
6. Load Types
Different types of can freight corridor are almost endless. The most common are flat cargo, refrigerated goods (refrigerators), freight van and car traction. Other types are oversized (wide load, extended, maxi, step deck, double drop, less than truck load or unit load, and more), boats, household goods, government, logs / timber, and the list goes on.
Its refrigerated cargo usually consists of food, produce, or temperature sensitive material. They can go dry cargo of food to most any material. Barges generally cast metals, large equipment and other goods that do not fit in an enclosed trailer.
When it comes to specialized, it can be transported by boat, car towing, barge widespread, and more. The niche market is good to get a. It pays well and is not as flooded as the other types of goods.
You also have the freight forwarding freight rates. Son of cargo being transported in container ships, rail or air. Can be any of the products seen in the above list, only to another country.
Either that is the field that you decide to go, I recommend you do research and ask questions about that topic. I would say the easiest, but is more competitive transport goods van. Van its cargo may consist of automotive parts, dry foods, paper, plastic and more. It is the least likely to give you any problems during the transport process. When it comes to reefer freight, you have to worry about temperature control. Cargo plane, you have to worry about belts, chains, tarps, and more. Once you get into specialized, such as size, boats, maxi, etc, you have to worry about permits, escorts, and more.
7. Classification of goods
There is no real place to go to find all types, or to read any book that can teach you the fees. You learn by trial and error. The best scoring method (price) a load is to send a generic load cargo on board. Trucking companies are called to ask for this burden. When they do, ask them how much they would be transported. Tell them that the burden has been asked about but these all the time. Make the process with a couple of companies, and soon we will see what cargo is moving in that lane. Websites have the tools to recent research in the lanes rates determined. I'm going into that later.
There are a couple of different ways that people want prices. The most common is a mile. They want know what you (or your company hired) per kilometer to be launched.
That is: A dry cargo going 1200 miles in an alley, where the average pay is $ 1.15 per mile. If it will cost $ 1.15 ($ total $ 1380.00) to ensure that cargo is moved with a carrier, you must quote the customer a little more (perhaps I say that will cost $ 1650 to move it) to make a profit. So now you are making $ 1650 of his client, minus $ 1,380 paid by a company with a gain of $ 270 or 16% for a load).
In industry, the common rule is that you want to make at least a 15% profit on each load. That is 15% of the total fee. You can set the percentage anywhere, but must remain competitive. Some large brokerage firms I have dealt with have a minimum of 20% of its agents must maintain a burden. That, in my opinion, is a bad way of doing business. Yes, they do more in each load, but also make a bad name for themselves with carriers and industry professionals. Every situation is different and the rate should reflect that.
The other common form of weight. Take a load of potatoes, for example. The customer can pay by the bushel. They have a load of potatoes is 1200 miles. Miles will only come into play when you are calculating, for their own good, the rate per mile.
ie is 48,000 pounds of potatoes go 1200 miles paying $ 6.50 per hundredweight; The way the rate is set to take the weight (48,000) divided by 100 (hence the "quintal term), and you get 480. So you have 480" one hundred dollars. "Then he multiplies however, several hundreds of dollars for what you pay for hundred weight. Therefore: 480 hundred dollars x $ 6.50 = $ 3120 for the full payment. Then when you go to find a company that put it back on a rate per mile. If it is 1200 miles which divides the total rate of $ 3120 by 1200 km, allowing her to pay $ 2.60 per mile. Try to find a company for less than that to make a profit.
8. Lanes
One way is simply a route between two cities. Say, for example, Chicago and Atlanta, which is one lane. Whatever the drop is and destination, which is his lane.
There are roads that are better than others by an agent or trucking company. I have tried Carriles to avoid is the Northeast, South Florida, southern Texas, and most of the Upper Midwest. The reason for this is described below.
South Florida (under I-10) – There is a large amount of goods leaving the area. This means that the freight rates to be lower due to the number of carriers needed a load out from here. It underbed each other to get loads that are available. Now the other side of this is that if you have goods that come out of this area, it is easy to sell. Also, if you try to book a truck on a load going to South Florida, will be asked to pay a Deadhead miles back to Atlanta or nearby.
Northeast – This area, in my opinion, is a problem because there are so many trucks and not enough load. The same applies to the underbidding each other. Moreover, even if you load there, customers do not pay enough to negotiate out. They know the situation and reduce charges accordingly.
South Texas – The same situation applies in the above areas.
Upper Midwest (Utah, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, like the United States) – These areas have a lack of industry, in addition to goods farmland. Unless you have established contacts in this area, I suggest staying away. It is difficult to find a truck in these areas.
9. Building a customer base
Where to start finding freight is the most important part of being a stockbroker. The Best I can tell you to do is start surfing! Internet is the most powerful tool. There are websites that list manufacturers in the United States. Thomesnet.com is a great tool contact with shippers. Allows you to send 30 companies a day per account. It is free to create an account with thomasnet.com. You can email or call these companies. It lists any food manufacturer for metal.
Another good way is to look through the products in your home or work. See who are made by, and then search the Internet. You always will want to contact the shipping or transportation department. When enterprises are located, is needed a game plan. Below is a script for an email or phone call to a charger;
"Hi, this is Johnny with ABC Logistics. I'd like to get started with your company to help move your goods. We are a logistics company that has been in business for (x amount) of years. I would appreciate the opportunity to qualify your lane, and see if we can reduce your shipping costs. "
You'll get shot down. In my years, I've never had anyone be rude. So do not be afraid to cold call. We need help to move their goods. Simply touch the fiber with them at the right time. Never pull a number. Call again in a month. It might just have the burden fell on a carrier, and need help.
The industry has evolved from what used to be. Customers were won by visiting business in person and landing an account. This still happens but in a smaller number of cases. It is still advisable to do so, especially to maintain and build customer a relationship. Most shipping departments are now ran by a generation raised on Internet use. With this happening, landed more accounts through Internet and email. I have unloaded most of my accounts using my knowledge of computers and email. I will identify a general e-mail company (as@abcfoodcompany.com such) and then find sending e-mail management. You can do this by finding out his name. Try combinations such as your name followed by a period then your last name and email address. Try different variations of the above example. Finally, get your email address. I find it easier to land an account with an email. They are usually pretty busy and will respond to an email before replying to a voicemail.
Another trick is to handle the doormen. The goalkeeper is a receptionist. It can detect a sales call a mile automatically and we will send to voicemail. Here's the trick that I use:
I'll call the company and ask for immediate shipment administrators voicemail. Once named after the voicemail, hang up. Then I call back later and ask for by name. This makes it sound as if they know them and they can be you want to call. You can also simply ask his first name. If they have a common name that is even better. The receptionist will ask you to "John" you is wanting. You answer with "Oh, sorry, John Smith". Then it sounds like you know him personally and is waiting for your call.
10. Construction of a base vehicle
There are many ways for you to find a company to cover its load. The first would be to use platforms load after you have placed a burden. Some may call off its load, or you can search and call. Another would be to establish relationships with carriers to be launched for you on a regular basis.
I suggest establishing a good relationship with every company you use. They will follow you like a runner will ever changing company. And as you become familiar with the rail, you can call on its list of companies that meet the criteria. It will also help in a desperate situation. If you care of them, and they are a day glued to a load, you'll find that most companies and will help you make a lower rate than normal.
Keep all your contact information in a software company or an Excel file. You will be helpful when you register with a local brokerage. Instead of waiting to set them up when you use them, you can have your broker to go ahead and prepare early.
11. The sale of goods to a carrier
Once the jackpot, and a client gives you goods, you have to find a company to remove it. This is the easy part. First, make sure that can cover the load. If the offer is too low and can not find a company to get her out of that cheap, you must return it to your customer. If that happens, it is generally let you unless you have been with them for a while. Once you take the load, you want to publish on pallets. Once published the important information (weight, which collects, in the drops, miles, your contact information and type of trailer needed, etc;). I suggest not to publish the rate you are paying. That would eliminate the possibility of negotiation. You can also search the truck and call them.
Once you have a truck concerned, you always want to ask them what you will do to the load. You do not want to have a price. Do not panic if you have to weigh. I promise not to scare them. But mentioning a figure lowball, and they say no. Then it's your chance to ask what they need at a fee to do so. If you can meet them at a reasonable rate, go to the next company. Once you are satisfied by a percentage, then starts procedures mentioned above. The creation of packages, contracts, and the rate of all confirmations will be exchanged.
12. Freight Forwarding
Freight Forwarding is an agency in a sense. They handle the load that is international. You will need a freight forwarder if the container cargo handling that foreign ship or air cargo. This is a very lucrative, but also requires much more experience with the customs and such. If this is a career that interests in, I suggest you find an entry level position within a forwarding company. If you can gain experience in requirements for ships, customs procedures, or speak a foreign language which are said to go for it.
13. The authorities, bonds and insurance
A) Authority means an authority or the number MC allows the freight corridor. Carriers and freight agents, both have numbers of MC. Their number of MC is used for government and transport industry as a number to represent their company as if it were legal for road or its intermediary role. MC are the six-digit numbers start with a 0-6 depending on the age of the company. You can tell the age of a company by its number of MC. As I write this, a company starting now receive a number which begins with a 65xxxx.
B) Bonds: If you open your own brokerage you must have a surety bond. This is a $ 10,000 bond corridor makes it an easement. This link, depending on your credit, you can pay in different ways. You can pay in a lump sum or credit card good enough, it can be paid in payments. Now, if you decide to go as a trader at a brokerage firm established to lead the authorities, bonds and insurance, which is the reason that a committee would be separated from them.
C) Insurance: Most companies will take and need to carry a minimum of $ 1 million liability insurance and a minimum $ 100,000 cargo liability. But now and days, it is best to have, and most, $ 250,000 cargo liability. A runner must carry the burden of responsibility to support contingent cargo insurance company if they have lapsed. If you open your own brokerage, you will have to take this along with the security, authority, and the number of MC. Again, the advantage being an independent agent for an established recruitment is that carry those.
14. Being an independent agent or owning a house values
As an agent that has less risk by owning a house of values. As an agent you are responsible for building their own customer base. You must get your own burden, meet its burden, and need to fax papers to the office of his broker.
As an owner you are responsible for all operations back office, authorities, bonds, insurance, collections, payroll, etc. In addition, as owner of a brokerage must have an initial line of credit. This credit line is to pay the carriers used to have collected. This happens because most customers do not pay for 30-60 days and to maintain a good credit as a runner who must pay the airlines in 25 days or less. This, in turn, are paid on results you have to leave your pocket airlines pay before the shipper. This can add up rather quickly. If you move 10 loads per day to $ 1,000 per load which add $ 10,000 within 25 days $ 250,000 would pay the airlines before you start to receive payments from shippers. Therefore it is beneficial to become an agent of a company instead of opening his own brokerage. Also, having an established name and a larger number MC will help in obtaining new customers. If you open your own brokerage you will gain a new MC number is recognized by our customers and do not dare to do business with the United Nations established brokerage.
Also, the cost of operating a brokerage division is only maintained if you are an agent. I advise to be an agent. If you want more money, and have a great business book, probably will give a greater division instead of losing.
We also take into account the cost and time involved in managing of employees, payroll, and insurance. These are just some of the responsibilities of owning his own brokerage. It's a big step and should consider stronger.
15. Marketing and Advertising
The best way to advertise is through word of mouth. You want to treat the company as good as a customer. They talk with other airlines on a daily basis about who they are and how to convey good / bad the payment could be. In addition, discuss how they are treated. So if you have a company that treated like his own family, going to other companies say "Hey, when load is needed, call John on ABC's freight logistics. "" It pays well and treats you as a friend. "
With regard to advertising for customers: it is almost unnecessary. Most shippers are not looking for in advertising for brokers to help you out. You'll have to look to those customers.
Advertise Online or in the documents is a great way to get broker agents under you. You may have staff under you, and be under the umbrella of a house brokerage. The possibilities of what you can do are limitless. This is your own business and should be treated that way.
I suggest building a packet of information your company to customers. Developing a Tri-Fold brochure, buy some pocket folders, and put together a package that can be shared. This will act as company representative when not in front of a client. You can watch and learn about you and your services.
16. Charges Assessorial
Assessorial charges are therefore fees charged to the company, customer or broker if they occur. These rates can be layover is a charge for which is held over 12 hours during loading or unloading. The arrest is paid when a driver is to help for a short period of time allowed usually after 3 hours for loading and unloading. Extra Stops are usually paid at a rate of $ 50 per stop. A Lumpur office is when a driver must pay a company to load or unload the truck.
All these charges must be cleared with the broker and the client in advance. If there is no good in these positions by the customer or the agent may cause the company to be charged for it. As a runner you need to be sure that the company calls these charges OK. Most assessorial charges are made in advance in contract row customers.
17. Load boards
There are many pallets on the Internet today. Has Internet truckstop (truckstop.com) 123loadboard.com, getloaded.com, DAT members, and many more. All you have to do is search the Internet for pallets of goods.
I personally recommend truckstop.com and getloaded.com. DAT has useful tools, but is very expensive. If supplied by the agency that signed values is very good. Truckstop.com has company profiles air that allow a carrier to verify credit and performance history, the forums you can chat with industry professionals, and other useful tools.
There is also a free load board around. Trulos.com is a decent load plate, which allows the publication and search of the freedom of all. New sites like posteverywhere.com are available as an information service that will have its load and post it on all pallets. And the best part is that you only have you have an account on posteverywhere.com.

18. Working Holiday Bag * (I, in no way represent or support any of the following companies) *
When it comes to find a brokerage firm will work for you to research them. I can recommend some, but what you want from a company depends on you. All have good and bad qualities, but reducing it to what is important to you. Looking for the best match, the best software, or the best support for back office. The age of a firm can be something that is important for you too.
Some companies will not have new players. This is something to consider too. I personally do not understand why not accept a new agent. The cost of an agent is almost nil. Personally, hire as much as I could. Thus you have a better ratio of agents working out. Below is a list of companies. You can also find brokers who are looking for agents in the classifieds in jobsinlogistics.com and truckstop.com.
Dart
UTI Logistics
CR England
Landstar
SIDR

19. Procedures
Confirmations Price ('s an example at the end of the book): This is a confirmation page will have all the details of the cargo as the shipper, place of delivery, take the number, invoice number shipment, the consignee and the ship to location, contact information, product weight, the rate you are paying a support, not the rate you are receiving from charger, the necessary details, such as temperature, if it's a load of refrigerators, tarpaulins, if it is a flat-bottomed cargo, any shipping information, etc
Configuring Packages: A package to create a runner going to contain a cover letter, your credit references, your W-9, insurance, the number MC / authority. The carrier set package contains all the same, but include a transportation contract broker. A client create package includes all countries, addition to an individual contract is made between you and the client.
All customers need to have a credit limit. If you work for a house bag, your client will fill out a credit application to make sure they pay their bills. This is not to accept the charges from customers, and never receive the payment.
Your brokerage will provide all these documents to register as an agent.
20. Tools Required
It will have a office or rented space, a computer with high speed internet, preferably two phone lines, fax, and office supplies. Things is essential, and easy to obtain.
I recommend two phone lines for the simple reason that one will be connected to a fax and the other for calls. Fax services are also to be connect to email instead. In that case, you need a scanner.
I also recommend to rent an office away from home as soon as possible. This helps in the professionalism, under the distractions, and more space.
It is also a good idea to have a software agent if not provided by the company you work. Listed are some software programs for runners;
Edonna
Loadpilot
ERT
Transportationsoftware.com
There are many more just do a search agent software freight. These programs will be managing, maintaining and monitoring all their burdens, customers, and transportation database. Also printed on the bills of the demand and rate confirmation consecutive load order number.
21. Work From Home
It takes discipline, motivation and focus to work from home. In turn, it is gratifying to manage their own time and income. You will find that they want to watch TV, do yard work, homework, etc. You should treat it like a regular job 9-5. My advice would be lifted, take a shower, Drink coffee, set a specific timetable and follow it as if leaving home to go to work.
You need to find spending most of the day finding new clients if you want to succeed. The intermediation of a burden should not consume more than 30 minutes of your time. That is, as the paperwork, search a company, etc. as a broker you can make anywhere from $ 0 "as much as $ 200,000 a year or more. Realistically, one person as an independent agent agent can probably 10 loads per day and that will keep you busy. But always looking for new business!
Program working day – Be sure to set certain hours. You do not want to treat it as if at home. This will begin to interfere with her work and she will start to loosen. Act as if you are leaving of the house and go to an office. I recommend getting an office outside the house when it's affordable.
Stick to it – Times will be difficult. You have to have a support system to help stay motivated. Getting started is the hardest part. Once you have built a business book, you will find that you stay motivated.
Distractions – I recommend having a separate house and line of work. Turn off the phone away from home during the day. This helps in eliminating potential distractions. Your friends and family know they must also respect that this is work. I have found that the family tend to ignore that is working and hope to do the things you do on your day off.
Do not settle for low wages, do more – I've seen too many times when the agent begins to make 3 than 5 thousand dollars a month working from home and installed. They think they are doing more than his previous work and start working from home. That's great, but not settle for that. You can do much more. Keep trying to clients new and more goods.
Time to separate family of working time – As a runner who is always available when you have a lot outside. But you still needs to be able to separate family and work time. You might find yourself staying late at the computer trying to connect new customers. Working hours given set and stop time of day.
22. Trucking companies
The carriers have great opportunities for people in this industry. As experience as a dispatcher, load planner, or even a recruiter will help you gain the skills needed in industry.
Most trucking companies now also have a brokerage of their own. Truck is loaded with its customers and also the transport corridor goods to other trucking companies. This is in addition to income and resources for the customer to be able to offer other services.
23. Other goods Industrial Jobs
In my time in the freight industry that I have learned many other ways of earning a living, as well as brokering. I with trained guides and staff in person classes.
There is a new in the next race hitting the trucking industry. There are people who seek owner operators and transport companies for shipping small that you have the time or means to send themselves. Instead of the owner-operator of finding cargo in a truck stop on board, who pay a small percentage of a service expedition to find a load and manage documentation for him. He in turn pays a small fee, but manages to keep moving. Most of these services, exchange office 4-8% of the total freight cost. This may increase quickly if you are sending 20 trucks at once. Each pull of a load a day on average pay an average of $ 1000 and that pays 5% or whatever you charge, or $ 1000 for you.
Another way to earn a living in this industry is just sell contacts. All trucking companies and agents are willing to pay for a good contact with the shipper. If you find a shipper who is willing to take the runners or trucking companies to transport their goods, you can sell that contact.
Commodity brokerage are also looking for independent sales agents. In this role you do not have to mediate the transport of goods. To find a loader and configure with your company. In turn, the company will have a corridor to move the load and get a smaller cut. This position allows you to focus more on selling and less on paperwork and brokering.
24. Using the Internet to your advantage
The Internet can provide a resource valuable business. I have designed websites that draw in traffic to my business. Having more than one site is crucial for success. You can guide the search Different terms, keywords, and a different audience with independent websites. Make sure you properly optimizing websites is the key. Not fully understand meta tags, placement of content and web design can hurt your website and your ability to be found by people searching for their service.
A Web site also creates a more professional appearance to your business. When customers can look at their website to find information about their services, information contact, and credentials, which helps put them at ease. I've found that has a more professional attitude in the market. Surveys have shown that having a professional website makes customers feel more at ease when dealing with a company.
Another way to strengthen your company is using online resources such as:
Directory Listings
Press Release
Backlinks
Advertising on other websites
Communities and Forums
Online registration groups / organizations in the Industry
SpotHole.com – Add your company Web site a greater presence
