Pittsburgh Steelers was founded in 1933 by Art Rooney. This is a professional football team. Included in the Central Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL). Under the restructuring plan that will affect the league in 2002, the Steelers play in the AFC North Division.
It was named after the National League baseball team in Pittsburgh. In 1938, the star running back Byron White, who was nicknamed Whizzer owing to his speed, was signed by Rooney. But despite the new addition to the team only managed two victories. Originally called the Pirates, the team changed its name because its losses in 1940. They managed only three wins record during 1942-1949.
His uniform is black and gold color. The team got its name from the factories being Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, where the team played their early games and moved to a new stadium in 2001. His defense was nick named as the backdrop steel because of its powerful defense capabilities. Some of the star players of the era included Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, Mel Blount, Donnie Shell and White and Joe Greene. They were members defense that was ranked as the Top for three consecutive seasons in 1974-1976. They won the 1974 and 1975 playoffs and Super Bowl season in the coming seasons. Three years later in a thrilling game against the Cowboys won, 35-31 in the Super Bowl. The Steeler had a strong lead after landing Bradshaw four passes in the final minutes party.
Dallas quarterback made a little before Pittsburghs touchdowns and scored a victory recovered. They won their fourth title in 1980, ever after beat Los Angeles Rams in a 31-19 score. It was one last Super Bowl appearance for the team in Noll, who took two titles in the division 12 seasons that followed. He retired in 1991 to more than 209 career victories, which put him in fourth place in the history of the NFL.
After the sad demise Art Rooney, in 1988, who had owned the club for over 50 years, his son Daniel Rooney became the team president to act. At that time Bill Cowher, who was a former NFL defense was named head coach of Pittsburgh in 1992. They did a solid team in the 1990s and led to three consecutive victories Division 1994-1996. The Steelers played in the Super Bowl since 1995 against the Cowboys, but lost 27-17. That was victorious in the1996 playoff season in the AFC Central Division opponents against the Indianapolis Colts 42-14, but lost to New England Patriots to 28.3 in the next game.
