The San Francisco 49ers, also known as the 49ers SF, the Niners, The Red and Gold or Bay Bombers are a professional American football team based in California. The team is part of the Western Division of the National Football Conference. The 49ers SF, who started playing as a team of the Charter of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) in 1946, became a member of the NFL with the merging of the AAFC in the NFL.
The team, which has had some of the best races in the history of football, especially in the 1980s and 90s, has been going through a slump in its history since 2002, losing to weaker teams, with poor spells playing and being chased by controversies both within and outside the club. But the team still has a large fan following due to their successes past, which includes five Super Bowl victories, five NFC championships and seven division championships victories. This decision of the management team has delivered a new blow to fans of SF San Francisco 49ers.
