Laurence Maroney Signed

Should I consider trading my backup quarterback?
I looked at my fantasy football team and found that I got Michael Vick for my starter (of all people) so I traded him for Alex Smith of the 49ers.
However, I got JaMarcus Russell of the Raiders and he’s not even signed yet or shown up to practice camp. Should I trade him, too? I’m a bit of a rookie at this fantasy team stuff (did it last year for the first time).
Here are the other players on my team (other than my QB Alex Smith):
*Larry Johnson and Laurence Maroney as RBs
*Anquan Boldin, Reggie Wayne, and Calvin Johnson as WRs
*Tony Gonzales as TE
*Robbie Gould as a kicker
*”Da’ Bears” defense
BACKUPS (other than JaMarcus Russell):
*Chester Taylor and DeAngelo Williams as RBs
*Devery Henderson as a WR
*The Colts’ defense
Tony Gonzales is terrific and Larry Johnson has to be good since he’s from Penn State. All you really need is a warm body who is not in jail to toss the ball to Tony or hand off to Larry (assuming the offensive line is OK). The Bears proved last year they can make the super bowl without a great quarterback. The guy the Bear’s have handling snaps has difficulty handing the ball off at times – witness Monday night against the Colts. The Bears defense should be your ace in the hole.

Dwayne Bryant gives his thoughts and predictions on the AFC next season
Bullseye-Sports.com 's Dwayne Bryant gives his thoughts and predictions on the AFC East for the next season. Teams are listed in order of expected finish.
1. New England Patriots
Offense: QB Tom Brady is undoubtedly one of the best quarterbacks in the game. With an almost nonexistent running game in 2005, was named Brady to carry the load – and he responded with a great year. Brady threw for 4110 yards and 26 touchdowns with a QB rating of 92.3. The Pats RB Laurence Maroney made as insurance for the aging of Dillon. The receiving corps is suspect, except for The former Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch. David Givens left for Tennessee, leaving the Pats, without a solid # 2 WR. Chad Jackson was drafted to compete with Reche Caldwell. Look for more production from the TE position, where Ben Watson is poised for a breakout season. Daniel Graham is another viable option position TE. Brady spreads the ball really well and makes his teammates better. As he stays healthy, the offense will continue to produce.
Defense: This is not the same defense that led the Pats to three Super Bowl titles, but also not the same unit that looked awful at times last season. This defense is aging and lacks the depth at LB once had. But Bill Belichick is a defensive guru will not allow this unit to slide too far, not to resist injury. DE Richard Seymour wears a solid d-line. Rosevelt Colvin is a quality replacement for The Departed Willie McGinest. Tedy Bruschi returned from a direct blow to the LB corps. The front seven is good, but the secondary needs to stay healthy in 2006. Rodney Harrison returns from injury and veterans of the SS Tebucky Jones and CB Eric chirp were brought in. This defense returns to the elite, if the injury bug does not pay another visit.
Special Teams: Kicker Adam Vinatieri left for Indianapolis and may regret the Pats let him try the free agent market. He signed former Tampa Bay kicker Martin grammar, but you can expect to see others competing for kickers work. This is almost certainly backfire on them in close games.
Prediction: If Brady and the secondary stay healthy, New England will win the AFC East. But you better look over their shoulders because Miami is closing the gap.
2. MIAMI DOLPHINS
Offense: QB Daunte Culpepper arrival has fueled optimism in Miami. Joey Harrington has also been brought in only if Culpepper is not ready for the first week. If Daunt can return to previous form, This offense is a considerable force. Suspension of Ricky Williams' paves the way for RB Ronnie Brown to carry the load. But can he carry the load? Shared carries with Cadillac Williams Auburn has been here and shared last season with Ricky Williams. WR Chris Chambers erupted for 82 catches, 1.118 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2005. He should easily match those numbers this season. Culpepper threw to the TE much in Minny, so expect Randy McMichael for a productive season as well. Miami LT LJ Shelton added to promote an up and coming offensive line.
Defendant: Miami, was second in the NFL last season and tied a franchise record counting for 49 sacks, led by Jason Taylor 12. This group is aging and lacks depth in quality. Taylor wreaked havoc in 2005, moving across the front line and sometimes dropping into coverage. LB Zach Thomas is great at reading plays and get to the ball, but is 32 and missed a lot of time in 2005. Youth as LB Channing Crowder, and Manuel Des Rodrique Wright should step. The secondary needs first-round pick Jason Allen to make an immediate impact. This defense appears still in a state of transition. Fortunately for them, with the Bills and Jets offensively inept in their division.
Special Teams: Wes Welker, kick back is very productive. Kicker Olindo Mare connected on 83.3% of his FG tries last season.
Prediction: Miami final finished no worse than second in this division. If the defense plays well, the Dolphins could beat the Patriots and win the AFC East. Wait at least a spot in the Wildcard playoffs for Miami.
3. Buffalo Bills
Offense: Buffalo's problems begin at QB. JP Losman was unstable at best in 2005 and needs more time to develop. Kelly Holcomb is only marginally better and I can not see Craig Nall to be more than a third quarterback. Perhaps even more of a problem is the lack of talent and depth along the offensive line. This unit can not protect the QB and open up avenues for the implementation Willis McGahee last season. It's a real testament to their ability to McGahee was able to run for 1,247 yards without blocking and without the aid of air. Lee Evans is the go-to WR with Eric Molds in Houston. Peerless Price returns to compete with Andre Davis at # 2 WR. Without protection and weapons is not enough means that this group is fighting in a major way.
Defense: The Bills defense could not stop the run or the pass last season. His yards-allowed-per-lead rose from 3.6 in 2004 to 4.5 The last year. Why? Well, I think DT Pat Williams is going to Minnesota had much to do with it. While the bill allows almost a full yard per carry more without him, the Vikings cut their yards-allowed-per carry from 4.6 to 4.0 with Williams anchor average. Coincidence? I think not. LB Takeo Spikes returned an Achilles injury. Buffalo needed to return to form plays. London Fletcher is also a LB talent. They still have strong convertible Nate Clements and Terrence McGee in the secondary and the draft includes Ko Simpson and Donte Whitner should help to improve this unit on the performance of 2005. They will need some of their rookies to make an immediate impact, if this defense hopes that even close to 2004 productivity.
Special equipment: Terrence McGee led the NFL in 2005 with a 30.2 yard kick return average. The kicker Rian Lindell nailed 29 of his 35 FG tries.
Forecast: Too many holes in too many places and too many questions on both sides of the ball. Buffalo is destined for a top-ten draft pick in 2007.
4. NEW YORK JETS
Offense: Two shoulder surgeries have left everybody wondering if Chad Pennington is the man for the Jets. They brought in Patrick Ramsey from the Redskins as insurance, but their ability is also questionable. They may be willing to throw the rookie Kellen Clemens in the fire. That would be a big mistake, in my opinion, behind this Swiss cheese of a line offensive. Curtis Martin 1,000-yard seasons string ended last season due to injury. At age 33, Martin will be reduced his role to keep healthier longer. Cedric Houston, Derrick Blaylock and rookie Leon Washington see all the carries. WRs Laveranues Coles and Justin McCareins are big-play guys, but the situation QB prevents them from making. Or Doug Jolley and Chris Baker will have to step on the TE. Drafting D'Brickashaw Ferguson was a big step in the repair of the o-line. The o-line 2006 will look completely new which means it will take some time to gel.
Defense: The Jets are making the transition to a schema 3.4 defensive. New coach Eric Mangini used the 3-4 in New England and hopes to work here. However, the switches of this type usually take some time to give positive results. I do not think the Jets have the right pieces of the puzzle. In the absence of a giant nose off and swallow the FREE BOOK blockers to make plays. DT Dewayne Robertson is the closest we have, but who suffer from chronic diseases of the knee. The run D will fight again. LB Jonathan Vilma is very talented, but 3-4 compelled to take on blocks and is too small for the role. Ty Law was released and picked up by the heads, leaving the school with questions, too. Too many holes and many changes equal another long season for the Jets D.
Special Teams: Justin Miller led the NFL in yards on kickoff returns, with 1577. Also had a touchdown. The rookie kicker Mike Nugent made 22 of 28 FG attempts, including 17 of their last 19 attempts.
Prediction: Like the Bills, the Jets apparently is headed for a top-ten in the 2007 draft.
FINAL THOUGHTS: This division is clearly divided in two. The Patriots and Dolphins will battle for the crown division, while the Bills and Jets struggle to stay out of the basement. The Dolphins could very well win the division this year. Both New England and Miami, should see the postseason action.
