Experience of youth
Messages that are mired in a combination of economic slowdown have a way to be passed ignored and its meaning is lost in the hustle and bustle of the voices of anguish and stress all vying to be heard. While the noise of current events chilla from the cab to the gun, pulling the home and heart, the image seen from inside the tornado is not evil witch, but the merger of parts of a leadership model that speaks of the NOW and the future. Curiously, the model of business leadership that is needed is to be actively demonstrated to the world of sport and emulated in the sand policy. As for the Pittsburgh Steelers organization celebrates its sixth Lombardi Trophy in seven appearances in the Super Bowl, it is clear that something knows how to win and success not obvious to the other competitors and that can not be attributed to dumb luck.
Since 1969, the Steelers organization has implemented a "youth model experience "in the selection of the 3 coaches who have been instrumental in achieving victories in the Super Bowl. While many would have shuddered at the prospect of elect the 37-year-old Chuck Noll, 35, Bill Cowher or 34 years of age, Mike Tomlin to lead a franchise established to record setting performances in the final game, apparently, this organization believes the youth, and expertise are moderate elements in a model of successful leadership. There must be a meeting of minds in which the owner and new coach shared a winning philosophy was not restricted by history or tradition. The lack of long-term experience through a variety of coaching experience was not seen as an obstacle to organizational success, but embraced as a journey in which the unwavering support that the catalyst for long-term success. When the triumvirate of youth, experience and disciplined mind is placed in a moderate scenario that aims at establishing a more standard high success, all that remains is the necessary support to bring everyone on board.
The message is clear! Standing in the tradition has its place, but not when the ground which is sinking anchor and no vine ripe to take before being smothered by mud. There is a line of life surrounded by enthusiastic youth activity provision to become something more than the players sideline waiting for his opportunity to serve. The long and laborious climb to the patient the dome represents an era of domination driven economic growth and industrial first-order control on mass markets. Insisting that someone wait "until your turn" means leadership opportunities that would be few and far between in his life. It is important to accumulate a wealth of experience and maintain the traditional thinking that was the heart and soul of the organization. Was a model that was long and short in the preservation of innovation. The reward came from how well you did what was already done.
Young talent should be seen and heard. There's a voice that is stimulating the naivete of youth tempered by impatience for the long climb. Instead of separating its development programs leadership, now is the time for all the well intentioned to position their organizations for young talent in the decision making table. It's not a question of asking that grow too fast, but a matter of having to scroll slowly. The real story of leadership is not based on a particular age or a certain set of experiences. Much of history is linked to an individual who happens to think something different from the crowd and had the audacity to believe that might work.
It is too easy fall into the trap of thinking that someone has "only been manager of the store, or a project coordinator, or a community activist ', therefore are not prepared to lead. A change of mind about where to find leadership talent determines that organizations are constantly setting the benchmark for the success or always chasing that elusive level. While many are pointing to our non-financial institutions as models of how NO can be conducted, also is important to draw the Steelers organization as a model of how to drive. They have the expertise!
