PATRIOTS TEAM SIGNED SB XXXVIII 16×20 PHOTO TOM BRADY $849.00 |
Our 4 July Freedom Day Tea Party was finally at hand. My wife and I, along with our staff and volunteers had spent countless hours preparing for this event. Our goal for this tea party was to generate the motivation for a "common sense" approach to some of the problems facing our country today. We were blessed that Mr. Luis Ingram with us. Louis is a retired constitutional lawyer and is passionate about the protection and restoration of the Constitution as our founding fathers intended. I was there in costume as Thomas Paine once again to MC the event and hope to scratch the surface with some current day "common sense" ideas, aimed at silencing of most "silent. Let me share a little history and history of my research on Thomas Paine, who in 1776 wrote a pamphlet called "Common Sense" as a prelude to our event on day 4.
In January 1776, seemed unlikely that the 13 American colonies declare independence from England. Although George Washington was leading against the British colonial army in Boston, most of the delegates attending the Continental Congress in Philadelphia wanted to patch things up with King George. John Adams, who led the defenders of freedom requested a non-binding poll of delegates to see where they were. The results were disappointing. Less than a third voted for independence. Even Virginia voted against. Then, in late January, a seemingly small event changed the course of history. Thomas Paine published a 80-page booklet called "sense common ", which presented arguments to refute the common sense prevailing theory of sovereignty in the Western world. Instead of a birthright that gave the king and the queen's power over others, Paine did in the case of individual sovereignty, stating that all powers of government derives from the individuals who created government.
Their arguments were so clear that nobody can understand that individual sovereignty was the natural order, based on the self-evident, eternal truths. Each individual human being, DEVINELY and given free will by their Creator, has the right to function in society in a way which enabled them to exercise this divine gift of free will. Paine went on to explain the inevitability of separation of the colonies from England. Then he suggested how the war can be won and proposed structures the new colonial government. To say that his little booklet struck a chord with settlers would be the understatement of the millennium! An estimated 500,000 copies were printed and read by the vast majority of the 3 million people residing in the 13 colonies. In late March, General Washington wrote in a personal letter "from the letters I've received lately deprived of Virginia, I think common sense is working a powerful change in the minds of many men. "
In July, the waves had reached the boiling point. On July 2, with the abstention of New York, the Continental Congress voted unanimously for independence. On July 4 1776 our Constitution was signed by 56 courageous people and the rest is history. In 1805, John Adams wrote of Paine, "I do not know whether any man in the world has had more influence on its inhabitants or affairs for the past thirty years than Tom Paine. "
Pretty cool stuff eh. This is why we choose Character of Thomas Paine and common sense ideas for our Tea Party. We can make a difference in our country by getting our sofas as the "most silent "and become the most vocal. Gustar the saying: The squeaky wheel gets oiled first. I believe that Samuel Adams said it best" is not required majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds. "Honestly, we, he, sat too much time watching some vocal pressure our elected officials, judges and others to get their way and have done nothing to stop them, until they have lost some of the same freedoms that our founding fathers fought and died. I'm embarrassed that I have done nothing so far.
Together we can make a difference.
