The Chicago Bears lost the first place in the NFC North, with the week 13 game against the Minnesota Vikings, where the Bears lost 34-14. The loss was more marked by a nose injury Dusty Dvoracek. When Dvoracek was injured during the game against the Vikings, ignored by and was taken straight to the locker room. After the game, the injury was described as a serious arm injury that could have Dvoracek out for the rest of the season. This news comes just days after the Bears played cornerback Nathan Vasher on injured reserve. Vasher suffered a tear in his right hand during the week 12 game against the St. Louis Rams. Although difficult, the lesions are not uncommon for both players.

Dusty Dvoracek has been with the Bears, who drafted him as the third-round pick in 2006. He played his college days in Oklahoma, where he started 26 of the 48 games he played there. In his time there, there were 131 tackles, 16 sacks, one interception, and three fumble recoveries. He played in two preseason games in his first season with the Bears before being placed on injured reserve in late August. In 2007, he played all preseason games as well as the opening of the season. He injured his knee after the match and was placed on injured reserve in September. So far this season, he had started and played 12 games and had 12 tackles and two passes defensed.

Vasher has also seen the injuries since the beginning to play in the NFL. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears as an All-American from Texas in the fourth round of the 2004 draft. During his first season, played in every game and started seven of them. He had 29 tackles, four passes defensed, five interceptions and one touchdown. The following season, started in, but a game, scoring 46 tackles, eight passes defensed, eight interceptions and a touchdown. He missed two games during the 2006 season due to a hamstring injury, but managed to catch 45 tackles, five passes defensed and three interceptions this season and a trip to the Super Bowl with the Bears. His work was sporadic throughout the 2007 season. He played in the first three matches and 14 games before being placed on the IR, at the end of the season. Still he had two passes defensed and one interception. Before this year, Vasher had played in eight games and started seven. He had 21 tackles, eight passes defensed and one interception.

To assist in the loss of Vasher, the Beas signed Jason Davis. Davis was previously in the Bears team practice earlier this season and on the Raiders roster, where he played one game before being waived. So far, Corey Graham has been starting in place of Vasher, but there are other players who may have an opportunity.
