Pittsburgh Steelers 2010 Season Predictions
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a tough challenge ahead of them for the 2010 season. They have to find a how to manage the first four games of the season without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was suspended for legal reasons. At the same time, the Steelers are trying to recover from a disappointing 2009 season, where not to defend her title at the Super Bowl did not even reach the playoffs. Here's a look at what the Steelers bring to the table for the 2010 season, as well as my prediction on where they finish the year in the AFC North.
Offense: The Steelers added the veteran quarterback Byron Leftwich in the offseason and figures to battle with Dennis Dixon for the starting job until Roethlisberger returns. If any of these guys outside team to a good start, it will be interesting to see if Roethlisberger immediately plug back into the starting lineup.
Look for a monster season running back Rashard Mendenhall, and you'll get the most carries this season with Willie Parker let go. Mewelde Moore and rookie Jonathan Dwyer will compete for takes as the backup.
The Steelers decided to trade away the Jets Santonio Holmes after Holmes got into some problems himself. Look for second year pro Mike Wallace to take on Holmes, while veteran Hines Ward is still the guy is about to leave the position of the slot. The Steelers also went out and signed Arnaz Battle and former Steeler Antwaan Randle El
The offensive line was not so good round in 2009, but the hope is the first choice Maurkice Pouncey can change that. Pouncey is best suited to play center in the NFL, but probably will spend the season at right guard Justin Hartwig while hold down the position. The Steelers decided to keep left tackle Max Starks, although it is better adapted to the right opposite field. For now keep Willie Colon down the right tackle spot, and really has become a solid player for the Steelers.
Defense: The Steelers were able to block nose tackle Casey Hampton with a new agreement, even at the age of 33 years is one of the best at what he does. Defensive ends Aaron Smith and Brett Keisel are also beyond up in age, and Smith could only play five games last season. Keep an eye out for the second end of Ziggy Hood, having a larger impact this season.
The Steelers linebacker are two of the best outside linebackers in the league in James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley, but there are some concerns at the center. The Steelers Larry Foote returned after spending one season in Detroit, and figures to compete for a starting job with Lawrence Timmons and James Farrior.
The key of the Steelers defense is Troy Polamalu, who plays a defense very well in a great defense when in the field. The problem is Polamalu has had some trouble keeping healthy, and only played five games last season. Security was re-signed with the Steelers Ryan Clark, who gives the Steelers a dangerous duo when he and Polamalu or in the field. At the corner of the Steelers welcome back Bryant McFadden, who should end holder on the opposite side of Ike Taylor, but could get some competition Youth Keenan Lewis and Joe Burnett.
Prediction – third AFC North: Even with a healthy Roethlisberger think the Steelers would have a therefore difficult time beating the Bengals and Ravens this season, but Roethlisberger, during the first four games I do not think this team has what it takes to win the division in 2010.
See where I have all teams finished the 2010 season in my 2010 NFL predictions. If you plan on betting the NFL this season, be sure to stop back for our life chances NFL every week of the year to ensure the best chance at a winning season.
